Geothermal Loop Systems and Geothermal Drilling
If you're looking for a great way to heat and cool your home with the benefits of saving on your energy bills year round, than you should consider a geothermal loop system for your home.
Geothermal loop systems almost work on the same principles as a traditional air source heat pump, except that a geothermal heat pump takes the heat from the ground rather than the air. As the ground is warmer than the air year round, the heat that a geothermal loop system can extract is constant. Unlike that of an air source heat pump which may have difficulty in the winter pulling in enough heat from the air to adequately heat your home.

As you can see above, there are four main types of geothermal loop systems.
Horizontal Geothermal Loops
This geothermal loop system consists of horizontal loops that are closed and is the most common system of a geothermal loop system. When wanting a geothermal loop system that is not as costly to you to install, than you would be in the market for this one, as the loops are installed near your home when there is adequate space to install horizontal loops and bury the piping 250 feet or more beneath the ground.
Vertical Geothermal Loops
If there is not enough room for a horizontal loop system, than you would be looking at a vertical geothermal loop system. This geothermal piping system is installed vertically rather than horizonally and due to this, the cost is higher because it involves drilling straight down next to your home.
The Pond Loops
If you are fortunate to have a body of water next to your home than you might be able to use that pond or lake for geothermal water loops. Like the horizontal geothermal loop system it closely matches except that it also involves submerging the loops into the body of water. This type of geothermal loop system will help you save money as the system gets the heat from the water rather than drilling into the ground.
Geothermal Pros
There are many heating and cooling contractors in the area, but most do not have the proper licensing and certifications needed to properly and safely install geothermal loop systems. When seeking a geothermal system installation for your home you should ask that contractor or company to see if they indeed possess an air conditioning license in the state of which the work is to be done. We see it all time, problems with a geothermal loop field or installation and the contractor that completed the work will not guarantee and leaves you and your home in the trenches. EcoMech is licensed and properly certified to install your geothermal heating and cooling system.
