It is not every day that a homeowner asks for geothermal technology for a heating and cooling system in a small cabin, yet that’s exactly what happened in Kingston, Georgia. Our homeowner had plans to build two homes in the area and the first one was a cabin of about 1000-1200 or so sq. ft. and the other home was over 8,000 sq ft., both were surrounded by vast acreage that made this an easy horizontal loop field for their geothermal heating and cooling system.

The 2 ton unit we went with on this cabin was a Geo-Excel unit manufactured by Florida Heat Pump (FHP). The homeowners wanted to utilize geothermal technology because of their desire to have the least impact of carbon footprint while using modern technology.

Kingston played a few pivotal roles in Civil War history by aiding 100,000 wounded soldiers in the first Confederate Wayside Home, delivering permission for Sherman’s March to the Sea, and surrendering the last Confederates east of the Mississippi.
